Meet Chelsea Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Williams.

Chelsea Williams

Hi Chelsea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For the longest time, I’ve always loved making videos and putting them together to create something fun and amazing for myself and for others. One day in February of 2020, I thought of the idea that since I love Disney and Disneyland so much, why not start creating content that is related? I’ve had TikTok before it was even TikTok when it was first Musical.ly. So, I’ve seen the application’s evolution and the way that it’s changed including what people were posting/uploading. At the time that I started making content, the Disney TikTok community was pretty small. I became inspired by those Disney creators around me and decided, hey, why not try this just for fun. My niche was mainly posting behind-the-scenes videos of Disney movies and Disneyland history and facts. Because I started my account during covid, I stuck to sharing those behind-the-scenes videos since I couldn’t be inside the parks to fully share my love for Disneyland history. Sharing those behind-the-scenes videos grew my account quickly in a short amount of time. However, my absolute passion for this account was to share my knowledge of the creation of Disneyland, its history, and why things are the way that they are at a place that brings joy to many. Since regaining my Magic Key (annual pass) in June of last year, I have been going to the parks at least once a week, creating content on Disneyland’s history and facts, and I even started doing some food reviews too. The goal is to share and educate people on a Disneyland that we don’t always think about when we go to the parks. A Disneyland that started as just an idea inside of Walt Disney’s mind. A Disneyland that has so much meaning and history behind the buildings, attractions, and more. And a Disneyland that people have come to adore and love.  Through being a content creator, I have had the privilege to meet, interact, and even become friends with other creators in the Disney community, which has been one of the best parts of this hobby. Aside from making videos, I make sure to leave time to enjoy the parks without putting up my phone every other second and being able to spend time with new friends and old, at the happiest place on earth. Today, I continue to stay inspired and hopeful about my journey as a creator and to keep moving forward.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say not necessarily a smooth road at all! I feel like it’s difficult to have that type of journey. When I started my own Disney account, I was posting a different type of content than what I am posting today, due to being at home during Covid in addition to the Disney parks being closed. Since I loved both Disney facts and history as well as behind-the-scenes videos, I wasn’t necessarily able to create content in the parks. I just decided to find behind-the-scenes videos from Disney movies, the early days of Disneyland, etc. For a while, I was posting that type of content as often as I could until I was able to get my annual pass and start creating the content that my heart had always wanted to make and share with my audience. Once I got that opportunity, my content totally switched as well as my engagement and just getting my videos out there into the Disney TikTok community. It has become difficult and is still a struggle to awaken my sleeping audience and to gain a new audience who enjoys Disneyland history as much as I do. But I stay hopeful and encouraged and will continue to do what I love and to have a growing community.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a recent college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in film and media studies, the goal as of now is to do video editing or even work in some area on set in the world of film/television. When I’m not at the parks, I spend time learning and educating myself on editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro. Editing my videos for my TikTok page also helps a little for my career since I am interested in the post-production world. I also have learned things in other ways such as being a production assistant on a short film. Being on set is such an exciting experience and as a PA, I am frequently asking questions and observing the roles of others working on the film. My dream job is to work at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, so hopefully, somewhere down the line, I will be a part of that.
