Meet Chuck Gary of Gary Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Gary.

Chuck, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, my mother was a piano teacher and my father owned a theatre company. Needless to say, my passion for creativity and the arts started at an early age. By the time I graduated high school, I played multiple instruments and started building out an at-home recording studio. When I met my wife in college, she had a passion for photography, which then sparked my interest for film making. Fast forward 14 years later, my wife and I now own and run a creative branding company, that specializes in helping busy parents find the time to invest in their brands, by providing them with the tools and resources to do so in a way that is simple and efficient, yet effective. Our specialty is creating digital content, from photos and videos to graphic design and web development. We now want to share our expertise with parents who are struggling to balance their time between parenthood and making their dreams a reality.

In addition to my own entrepreneurial journey, right after college, I started a career in recruiting, where I have spent the last ten years working in corporate America. My experience as a Talent Acquisition professional has helped me learn the ins and outs of corporate organizations and, more importantly, how to navigate each department and its respective impact on the overall business. In my opinion, this is the cheapest way to get an MBA without an MBA! Lol, JK! Right now, I lead a team of talented recruiters at a popular tech company.

In my free time (outside of parenting and my 9-5), you can usually find me creating and finding inspiration, whether it be through creating music, videos, or just taking care of our plant babies. We have our hands full with our two beautiful toddlers, which is why we know how difficult it can be to find the time to pursue entrepreneurial dreams as a busy parent. All of the above and more has led me not only to where I am, but who I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like everyone, I have certainly faced challenges along the way. However, my faith in God has gotten me through them and will continue to do so in the future. I am a firm believer of making your dreams a reality and I try to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. A few years ago, my wife and I put a goal in place to move to San Diego from Chicago < within five years. Little did we know that I would be laid off just six months later. Shortly after getting the bad news, an opportunity presented itself in San Diego (God, right!?) With a one year old and an eight-month pregnant wife, we decided to uproot everything and move across the country in less than three weeks. I look back and still wonder how we made this happen, but remind myself that all things are possible through Christ and this has been proven time and time again.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gary Creative – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
One of the biggest things holding parents back from starting their dream business is time and the lack thereof it. There are so many different services and products one can sell, but it takes a strong brand to sell. There is a big misconception that it takes a crazy long time to build a brand. Time that parents just don’t have or struggle to find. My wife and I came up with the idea to not only help busy parents build their brand, but to do so in a way that is simple, quick and effective. We like to call ourselves the DIY BYOB (Build Your Own Brand) Gurus.

I am proud of our business because we are helping people just like us who may have dreams and aspirations but are discouraged by the lack of time associated with parenthood. Having overcome a lot of these same struggles, we feel as though we are the right experts to help you overcome these hurdles much faster by sharing all of our branding expertise and secrets.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We ironically are currently doing what we do best and going through a “re-brand,” which is really exciting. The only thing more fun than helping others with their brands is creating one for yourself. So for the immediate future, I am excited to “relaunch” Gary Creative, as we transition from general brand consulting services to a more focused approach working with busy entrepreneurial parents.
