Meet Cindy Huynh, Brow Artist & Instructor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Huynh.

Cindy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I sincerely believe my daughter was my motivating force that pushed me to where I am today. As a first-time mom, of course, there were many new experiences and changes. Both to my life and body. The good ones are the moments my husband and I have with this incredible miracle we call our daughter. The completing component to our little family. But no one told me that I would lose an enormous amount of hair, including my brow hair! That’s when my hunt started. Low maintenance beauty, so that I could still have as much time for my daughter as possible. This is when I discovered the beautiful world of permanent makeup.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Before this, I was a respiratory therapist, so entering the world of PMU was a huge change for me. Yes, it came with its struggles and hardships, but I pushed on. The more work I put into it the more OBSESSED I became, I was driven with purpose, I was inspired and motivated to be expert in my newly found craft. Every available (sometimes unavailable) moment I had I would either be practicing, researching or BROWsing. I was fascinated by these procedures and the positive contribution of PMU had on people after receiving them. Life-changing for sure! To new artists, Please do not be discouraged. Keep practicing. Do your homework. Be determined and focused! Most importantly, never give up! Of course, there will be hard times. You will make mistakes. Learn from your mistakes. These mistakes are the stepping stones that’ll mold you into the artists you want to become. No one starts out as a master artist. Every master was once a novice.

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that a lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Social media is huge in this industry. It will play a major role in your success. Like and comment on other artist’s work to network. Also, try to find and follow master artists that share posts of tips and secrets.
