Today we’d like to introduce you to CJ Styles.
CJ, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised on the east coast in Georgia. I moved to CA. to be near my brothers who lived there. We started a family band and from that point, forward music was my passion. I started writing my own songs and started my original band. I have joined several bands over the years and love being the Frontman Entertainer! I use influences from Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown and others to model my performance!
My latest band is called SoRockBlu. We do soul, rock and blues music… hence the name. We love getting the crowd excited and on the dance floors! We perform in and around the N. San Diego county areas from local brewerys to local bars and dance clubs. Singing is a passion that lives within my soul.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road to form and keep a group of musicians on the same page and keep them together. It’s a challenge and requires patience to deal with different personalities but also quite thrilling when it all comes together!
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
SoRockBlu specializes in good dance music from Soul, Rock and Blues with some pop and country tunes to make us an all-around band that pretty much anyone relates to and enjoys by listening and/or dancing to some great sounding songs and a fun energetic Band! The band consists of six members who have become good friends with mutual respect and a love for playing music and entertaining crowds! As long as it’s fun we will never be done!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think N. San Diego’s country is a great place for all types of music! There are some great venues here that offer awesome food, drinks and great atmosphere for a fun night out pretty much any night of the week!
