Meet Colin Wolpert of C YOGA Studio & Teacher Training

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin Wolpert.

Colin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had been the proprietor of a successful IT businesses for many years when I was diagnosed with a spinal nerve tumor. Its pressure on my spine meant I was facing the devastating prospect of automatic function loss, with or without surgery. With almost no feeling in my legs and severe, constant pain in my back, I knew there had to be another way. I had dabbled with yoga previously and decided to take it seriously now. I crawled onto a mat and began a daily yoga practice.

Over a period of months, the tumor began to shrink until it was finally gone. My life was forever transformed, and the powerful momentum of healing and gratitude launched me onto a new path. I obtained certification as a Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin, and Prenatal Yoga instructor and became a Yoga Teacher Trainer. To date, I’ve taught 15,000+ hours of yoga to tens of thousands of yogis in the United States, Canada and internationally.

I started C YOGA Studio & Teacher Training to inspire positive change, and empower lives through classes, yoga teacher trainings, workshops, and seminars. I am overjoyed to report success!

My journey as a tech entrepreneur and finding truth on the yoga mat is detailed in my book, “Your Feet Face Forward”. The book contains many insights into life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our path has twists and turns, choices and obstacles. In my book, I explain why it’s important to remember that obstacles are informative and indicative of an option to change direction.

One of my favorite sayings is that “Life is very important, but it’s not so serious.”

The challenge for local community yoga studios is competing with chains that don’t expose practitioners to the essence of what yoga is and should be. I’m not suggesting that the yoga exercise classes at a gym are not good for you – I’m an advocate for wellbeing anywhere you can get it, and where it fits into your daily routine comfortably, but it’s important to know the difference between exercise using yoga poses, versus the multidimensional, multifaceted benefits of a holistic practice. Yoga is composed of 8 elements and the physical (asana) component is only one of them. Yoga holds unlimited power, when you are invited to explore its full potential.

Please tell us more about your work. What should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The kind of experience you’ll get at C YOGA Studio & Teacher Training is immersive, caring, and healing. We offer traditional classes from Kundalini to Iyenger, Hatha to Vinyasa, Yin to Nidra, and of course kids classes.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am my most fulfilled when I see a spark of understanding from a student – that moment when the light turns on, and the practitioner truly radiates love, acceptance, confidence, and peace from within. You can see it, and this person will never be the same again, as they embark on a fresh, lifelong journey with their practice. I see the transformation – it’s mind-blowing to witness.

Mostly, seeing our community take shape at C YOGA has filled me with joy. The studio has become a place where people gather, support one another, and meaningful friendships develop. I see renewed faith in humanity and neighbors being friends. I see kids finding yoga and meditation, I see a future. I have trust in the process again. Love was never, nor will it ever be, conditional.
