Today we’d like to introduce you to Colleen Noonan.

Colleen Noonan

Hi Colleen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My journey began with an innate passion for creativity a deep love for colors, patterns, and textures. I’ve always had a keen eye for the beauty that exists in the world, and I found myself growing increasingly dissatisfied with the mainstream products that lacked that unique touch.

When the pandemic shook up our routines and forced us to reevaluate how we live and work, it served as a catalyst for my entrepreneurial aspirations. I was inspired to transform the curation and care that’s typically associated with grand-scale events into something accessible to everyone every day. The idea was to bring a touch of elegance and artistry into people’s homes.

My motivation extends beyond a desire to sell products; it’s about infusing each piece with my own creativity and design sensibilities. In doing so, I pay homage to my mother, who played a significant role in shaping my vision. Colleen Marie, is not just a brand; it’s a tribute to her and the values she instilled in me.

My mother was the embodiment of elegance in everything she did, from her personal style to how she adorned the home I grew up in. There was nothing “basic” about her approach to life. From my earliest memories, I was involved in decorating our house, setting the table, and assisting in the creation of gourmet meals. I was essentially her little intern, but I relished every moment because she nurtured my passion for creativity.

Our family’s tradition of sharing dinner together has had a profound impact on me. It was more than just a meal; it was a celebration and a time to be present with the people we loved. The table was always meticulously set, regardless of the hour, and the experience was made beautiful and exquisite, just like my mother’s approach to life.

In essence, my brand, Colleen Marie, is an extension of my mother’s elegance and creativity. It’s a tribute to her and a way for me to share the beauty and grace that I’ve been privileged to experience with a wider audience. I want every meal to be a celebration, a time to relax, enjoy, and be present with loved ones, and to do so with a touch of the extraordinary, never settling for the basic. Just like my mother did, I aspire to create something graceful and unique for every customer.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to building Colleen Marie hasn’t been a smooth one, but I firmly believe that if it were easy, I wouldn’t be as motivated as I am today. Entrepreneurship is a journey filled with obstacles and hurdles, and at times, it can be quite stressful, especially when you’re just starting. However, these challenges have a way of reinforcing my conviction that this is precisely what I’m meant to be doing.

I must confess I’m somewhat of a perfectionist, and that trait can sometimes be a double-edged sword. I’ve learned that nothing in life is truly perfect, and it’s essential to give yourself some grace and acknowledge the accomplishments achieved along the way. One pivotal moment of realization was when a friend suggested that I reflect on everything I had accomplished in the past year. It was one of the best pieces of advice I’ve received, and for the first time in my life, I could genuinely say how proud I was of myself.

Setbacks and challenges have refined my strategies and taught me what works and what doesn’t. I now see hurdles as opportunities for improvement. Entrepreneurship is a continuous learning process, and I’m determined to use every failure as a steppingstone towards success. It’s all part of the process, and while no job is perfect, it’s the passion and freedom that Colleen Marie provides me that keep me motivated to persevere.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my most cherished childhood memories is helping my mom decorate our home for the holidays. The tradition began the day after Thanksgiving when we’d excitedly pull out the holiday decorations from the attic. While many of my friends were out at the mall shopping on Black Friday or spending time with friends, I just couldn’t pass up our special tradition with my mom.

I loved seeing the familiar decorations and was always excited to see the new crafts and ornaments my mom had created each year. Her creativity seemed boundless. She was known for her exceptional talent in decorating, and the centerpiece of it all was our Christmas tree. She never settled for an artificial tree, always choosing the most beautiful one from the lot.

Every year, like clockwork, she’d know exactly where everything should go, and somehow, she made the place even more beautiful. Those were times of celebration, togetherness, and getting creative. I’ll forever treasure those holiday moments with my mom.
