Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Wiedeman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was in my mid-teens, I wanted nothing more than to be a runway model. I went through several modeling classes and soon learned that in order to succeed in modeling being skinny and starving myself came with the territory. I soon developed a severe eating disorder and started obsessing over the empty number on the scale that I believed defined me. After bouts of the ER, IV rehydration and continually watching my mother cry and beg me to eat I decided enough was enough. I started eating clean, healthy foods and fueling my body as well as running daily. As I immersed myself in becoming a healthier version of myself. I realized I wanted to help others to lead a healthy, fit, and happy lifestyle as well. I graduated from CSU Monterey Bay with my Bachelors of Science in exercise science and set out to pave my own way in the fitness world. I also began competing in bodybuilding competitions and soon began coaching athletes as well. My passion became the amazing career and business I have created that today I call Team Hardcor.
Has it been a smooth road?
My career and journey of owning my own business have been nothing short of a struggle. As one of the first people to graduate college in my family, I knew nothing about running my own business or even what to do post-college. Starting out, I didn’t even have a mentor and was mostly self-taught as I spent hours researching everything advertising and the legalities of running a business. Recently, since moving to San Diego, I have been blessed enough to be surrounded by people who have been very resourceful and helpful.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Team Hardcor – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I own my own personal training business called Team Hardcor. I strive to really provide my clients with all the tools to incorporate exercise and healthy eating as a part of their lifestyle. Team Hardcor is more about creating a friend to friend environment instead of the typical trainer to trainee. Personally, I love strength/bodybuilding style training, but I have trained a wide variety of clients from elderly individuals just working on stability to elite bodybuilding athletes. I am very proud of how my career has blossomed into something bigger than I could have imagined and yet I still have so many big things planned.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
San Diego is a beautiful city full of so many diverse individuals. I love how prevalent the fitness industry is here, but could live without the traffic!
