Meet Crispin Valentin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crispin Valentin.

Hi Crispin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have always been driven by the desire to tell stories and share my experiences with others. My journey began in Mexico, where I was born and raised. At the young age of 11, I was brought to the United States by my parents in pursuit of a better life. After years of hard work and perseverance, I was able to become a legal resident and even served in the military for 3 and a half years, including a tour in Iraq.

After my honorable discharge, I worked various 9-5 jobs, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more out there for me. I began experimenting with music and radio, and eventually, a group of us started our own internet radio show. It was a labor of love, and in 2016, it won “Show of the Year” for the station, beating out over 120 other shows.

I continued to pursue my passion for radio and joined a community radio station in Dallas, Texas. But I wanted to do more, and I founded The Global Latin Factor Podcast, a platform that highlights the contributions of Latino culture to the world and showcases the amazing talent within our community. The podcast is a window into our culture, our way of life, and how we operate, and it’s also an opportunity to break down stereotypes and misconceptions about Latinos and show the world that we are just like everyone else, humans with stories worth telling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges are an inevitable part of life, but it’s not about avoiding them; it’s about how we choose to handle them. I believe that every struggle presents an opportunity for growth and development. I approach each challenge with a mindset of curiosity and determination, seeking to understand the problem and extract valuable lessons that can help me to evolve as a person and gain knowledge that will serve me in the future. It’s this attitude that has helped me to navigate the twists and turns of my life and come out stronger on the other side.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As the founder of The Global Latin Factor Podcast, I am proud to bring to the public a unique platform that focuses on highlighting the contributions of Latinos to the world. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, there is a lack of representation of Latino voices and stories, and our podcast aims to fill that gap by showcasing the hardworking individuals in our community with inspiring stories. My team and I are thrilled to share these stories with the world and are excited to see our platform grow rapidly. Although it has not been an easy journey, we are determined to continue growing and establish ourselves as a leading authority in the Latino podcast sphere. Through our podcast, I hope to break down stereotypes and misconceptions about Latinos and showcase the humanity and diversity within our community.

What were you like growing up?
I was always outgoing and a natural leader among my friends in Mexico, but when I arrived in the United States, everything changed. The language barrier and feeling of isolation made me shy and introverted. It was like a defense mechanism; I kept to myself until I could fully understand and speak the language. But as I started to learn English, my confidence began to grow. I remember the day I was taken out of ESL classes; it was a turning point for me. It was a moment of immense pride as I realized that I was becoming more comfortable in this new culture. It was a challenging journey, but it helped me to become more resilient, adaptable, and open to new experiences.
