Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Martin.
Cynthia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out of curiosity and utilized the skills taught to me by my mother. When it comes to having an eye for fashion and the finer things one could say thrifting is quite a rush. I thoroughly enjoy seeking out that one item of clothing that I know can uplift and inspire my clients.
I decided to take it upon myself to open my closet (Mz_ Ovidia) through an app called “Poshmark.” I have been in business for a little over four years. I pride myself for always making sure my clients receive the special unique item (wrapped elegantly). I hope to open up my own store and to expand my clientele.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I have had to learn a lot of things. Anywhere from figuring out storage for my items to sorting out shipping costs. I also had to identify what exactly my clients liked, what their needs were and what their individual challenges are so I can pick the right item to help them feel confident.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
What sets me apart is the customization that comes with the packaging. Not one package is the same. Also, the fact I tag along with the clients to thrift stores and help style them. One thing that I’m most proud of is the ability to uplift others and also be able to sustain an income from my passion.
I am an ambassador, top-rated seller, posh mentor, and top recruiter. I am very proud to be able to mentor people in helping them start their own online business as well.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I think starting a thrift shop or re-selling business is a good idea in my city.
