Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyrus Raiszadeh.
Cyrus, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My dad is a spine surgeon, and he saw more and more patients that were teenagers and younger with severe back pain. The only reason for this is because their posture was poor while using technology. They were all on their phones, tablets, and computers for long periods of time with their neck foreword and slouching. I noticed that there was not any acknowledgment to this issue, so I decided to start Str8up, a non-profit in which we go to schools to give presentations and put up posters in classes to remind kids to keep proper posture and take breaks from technology.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Kids have responded well in schools, and the many we have presented to have incorporated breaks and have kept good posture in the classroom. Also, the key is that kids remind their peers to stand Str8up, and this has helped as well. Also, WIT (Whatever it Takes) is a teen entrepreneur class that I take that supplies me with many opportunities to grow my business, that has helped as well.
Please tell us about Str8up Kid2Kid.
I run the company, I schedule appointments with the head of schools and I supply the schools with the supplies and information they need to teach their school. I am most proud of the fact that the number one thing that I am doing is helping others, that is the biggest reward I get from running the company.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memories are traveling to New York to hang out with my cousins, and the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl last year.
