Today we’d like to introduce you to Danica Parabot.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My permanent makeup journey started with a reconnection I had with my Aunt Jean Mcswain. As a little girl growing up, I always looked up to her. She was always glamorous and I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. She was also a successful business owner in the beauty industry. As I got older, my interest in the beauty industry grew but I couldn’t decide exactly where I wanted to be apart of it.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2018 when I saw my Aunt Jean again. It had been 20+ years and we had a conversation where she asked me what I passionate about. I really hadn’t thought about myself much as far as my career went. I was so busy with my two children (my 4-year old son and 2-year old daughter) and was content working part-time as a bartender. Money was ok and the schedule was flexible.
Finally, I decided to just go for it, take the Microblading course and see where it takes me. It certainly didn’t happen overnight. I put in countless hours before taking on clients. I remember I would come home after a full bartending shift, get the kids ready for bed, put them to bed and practice for least 2 hours every night before going to bed- EVERYDAY!
At one point I had so many job titles. A mother, a cosmetology student, a bartender, a Zumba instructor and a brow artist.
Fast forward a year later, I now have a successful permanent makeup business. A clientele that started from friends and family, that grew to referrals, to word of mouth and now just exposure from social media and the internet. I’m grateful every day that I’m blessed to have a beautiful family and able to balance my business and family life.
Being my own boss definitely has its perks. However, I do have to say there’s no “clocking in” and “clocking out”. I’m always working. Whether I’m continuing my education, working on my skills, marketing, etc.
Being passionate about something definitely gives me a sense of purpose. My goal in this industry is to open my own all around salon and spa. From permanent makeup to spa services, hair, lashes, even med spa services a one-stop-shop for all your beauty needs working with the best talents.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth ride at all. I’ve given up a lot to pursue my passion. Lack of sleep, time, and money invested.
Definitely coming out of my comfort zone and accepting rejection has been tough. There’s no manual on how to do it on your own, a lot of trial and error came along the way.

Brows by Danica specializes in cosmetic tattooing. Mainly known for “ombré powder tattoo” and “henna brows”. I have expanded my business adding, lip blush and scalp micro-pigmentation.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love the most about our city is our diversity and the fact that it is the norm here. The weather is amazing too, but of course that comes with the high cost of living.
