Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Lopez.
Hi Danielle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started when I was going through college studying Interior Design. I have always had this desire to create for others. I picked up an old DSLR camera and just started taking photos of EVERYTHING. A year went by and I started documenting family’s and my love for the photo world grew deeper. I ended up working alongside a fantastic Wedding Photographer Doug Loneman, he let me second shoot for him one summer and I absolutely knew I wanted to be a Wedding/ Elopement Photographer!! Another year went by and I was working as a waitress and also taking photos as much as I could. There came a point where I knew I had to choose one or the other so I then saved up for two months rent and I took a leap of faith and bet on MYSELF. From that day forward, I never looked back and have felt this overwhelming feeling of gratitude for this job! To be able to document such a precious life moment for others and to have such trusting clients with my style!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am 100% self-taught. . . from the camera to the business side of it! I will say I have overcome a lot of struggles as any entrepreneur has. But in my opinion to be a successful entrepreneur you have to have to make mistakes to learn and grow from. One of the best tips I could give is to not be “to proud” to ask for help from others!! That’s how we learn! For me the internet taught me so much!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Wedding/Elopement/Portrait Photographer based in beautiful Montana but I do travel for weddings! My main speciality are Elopement’s because I feel I can really slow down and connect with my clients on a different level! I would say I am most proud of my work ethic. I’ve always been an “all in” or “nothing” kinda girl! This job is everything to me, to have the freedom to create treasured memories for others is what it’s all about! What sets me apart from others? I would say what sets me apart from others is how I document others. I like to capture genuine photographs that you can feel. Emotion. Love. Authenticity is my work motto.
How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t say that good or bad luck has played a role in any of my life or business. I believe good comes to those who work hard and are patient. Nothing comes easy overnight!
