Meet Darian Watson and Rich Mccabe of The kitchen4k in North County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darian Watson and Rich Mccabe.

Darian and Rich, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Kitchen Starts off was formed by two young videographers who filmed music videos primarily. The portfolio of the @madebydwat and @richvrdx gained creditable enough to start a collective who which shoot music videos for artists in the SD/LA area. During quarantine, artists had taken advantage of everyone staying home so they would release music videos for people to watch, shot and edited by The Kitchen. We are planning to get a studio/warehouse so that we can eventually film moooooviessss!!!! We have worked with big-name videographers from San Diego and can only hope to join the list!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been pretty smooth besides this one artist that should’ve been on a contract. Don’t want to get into details but besides that, smooth sailing.

The kitchen4k – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We (The Kitchen4k) specialize in videography. We film everything from weddings to concert recaps to baby showers to music videos. Anything you want. We got it. We recently linked up with three big-name videographers. We can’t say names. Just stay tuned. What sets us apart is that we have a different editing style. Rich and I have two different styles combined together, so I think that makes us unique. We stay cookin up.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Honestly, I would say my teacher from high school, Mr. Kaechele, my friend Mac (og_rascals) and just seeing other videographers separate a business from their personal work made me who I am. I eventually ran int rich and from then on, we’ve had success working with each other.
