Meet David Esau

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Esau.

Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been marketing online since I was in a band called Jack’s Broken Heart back in 1999. I used to send our MP3.com link to people on Napster.com listening to similar artists to drive traffic to our MP3.com page to make money from plays.

From there I’ve worked various sales and hospitality jobs including Poseidon on the Beach as a server and Pacific Coast Grill in Cardiff as a bartender. I’ve always been obsessed with digital marketing and knew I wanted to learn more about Google Ads since it is such a revenue generator for Google and helps consumers connect with businesses and products.

I met my girlfriend a couple of years ago in San Diego through her brother (yes, it was slightly awkward for a while) when she was visiting family for the holidays. She lived in northern California so once we started dating six months later after we met, I became a frequent flyer on Southwest with mostly one-way tickets. I started looking for jobs and landed an interview at Google as an account manager working on Local Services and eventually with agencies that spent millions on advertising. Needless to say, I accepted the role and learned as much as possible in two years of how digital marketing and Google Ads works. Since I was a contractor I had to leave after two years in the position.

Luckily for me, I already started working on my own company, Click Track Marketing, a boutique, a highly-trained agency that thrives on helping small businesses compete with larger companies online. We offer Google Ads PPC, SEO, SEM, and other marketing acronyms that help drive traffic and leads to your website.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course not, times are tough when you launch your own business and lose a steady income, but it is the journey and obstacles you overcome that make it all worthwhile. As the saying goes, entrepreneurs will work 60 hours a week for themselves just to avoid working 40 hours a week for someone else. One of the struggles is finding a good team of designers, web developers, etc. that you can count on to deliver great results on time. I spent hours looking for the right people and have multiple contract roles I rely on depending on the needs of the client.

Tell us more about the business.
Click Track Marketing has two meanings. First, I’m a drummer and a click track is a metronome you play along to while recording drum tracks to help keep you in time. For marketing, it is fairly self-explanatory but we build every campaign with results and measurement in mind so we track every click.

Our services range from Google My Business setup, Facebook Pixel installation, and Instagram ads, Google Ads, pay-per-click campaigns, Google Analytics reports, SEO (on and off-page), SEM, and more. Businesses come to us when they need a marketing company they can trust to spend their money wisely and provide the data to back up the results.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Digital marketing is on the rise, cost per clicks are going up, and the competition is much steeper. We do our best to target your ideal audience and not waste money on low-value clicks. The content, goals, campaigns all need to align to achieve our objectives. Nowadays, you have to market much smarter to see the return on ad spend work out in your favor.
