Meet Dawn Lever Longmore of Spiritual Twist in Temecula Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Lever Longmore.

Dawn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Spiritual Twist was my Mothers Creation.

About Eight years ago my Mother, Lori started hand making jewelry and art. What she made she would give as gifts to family and friends. She would make bracelets with Chakra Colored Beads. Some of the bracelets would also have letter beads that spelled out positive words like Loved or Strength. There were also hanging pieces of Art that she Created.I still have my first Twist that she made for me hanging over my bed. A pretty purple piece of glass attached to a twisted wire. That wire is covered with purple beads and some lettered beads that spell out Spiritual Awareness.

I loved what she was doing and I wanted to share this creativity with people. At one of my visits in 2013 I asked her “What are you going to call this business?” Spiritual Twist just jumped out of her mouth! We loved it. Thats what she was doing. Creating a Spiritual Twist.

Thats how the business started. What happened in the next few months was I got Spiritual Twist as our DBA. I registered for a sellers permit. Bought an Easy Up and filled out all the paperwork to become a vendor at a local Farmers Market. During that time my Mom and I were also making Art in our spare time. We wanted to have a good amount of merchandise for the first Market we were going to be in.

The Opening Day for Spiritual Twist was Sept. 18, 2013. I set up the booth at the Murrieta Certified Farmers Market. In the beginning we had Chakra colored bracelets, necklaces and Twists for sale. I was also doing Chakra Tests for people. As time went by different things have been added to Spiritual Twist. Crystals and Stones, Metal Art and Ceramic Art are just a few.

So where is Spiritual Twist today? Everywhere! Well, actually at this time I am doing a lot of work from home because of the Pandemic. But our Art and our Friends are all over the States.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been struggles but that’s just a part of life. In the beginning of Spiritual Twist, I had a Full-Time Job. I kind of felt like I didn’t have a day off. I was either at my job, making Art or setting up the Spiritual Twist Booth on the weekends. But I chose to do those things. No one was making me work all the time. It was hard, but there was a reason behind it, to Build Spiritual Twist. In 2018 I found out someone I cared for was diagnosed with a dis-ease. That’s when I decided to quit my Full-Time job and do Spiritual Twist Full Time. I needed to Live. Not be in an office, on the phone for eight hours a day. Yes, that was a struggle. No more paychecks. If I didn’t sell something at a Market then I didn’t make any money. But again, that was my choice. So I would stay positive and do something extra to try to make money. There were very tight times, but I always made it through.

I am very thankful to my Mom, my Dad and my Aunt. Their Artistic talents are a Huge part of Spiritual Twist. The time and energy they put into all the pieces that they create is very appreciated.
