Today we’d like to introduce you to Dayne Nastri.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a 25-year-old fashion designer from Orange County, California. I grew up playing iconic video games like Starfox 64, The Legend of Zelda, and Kingdom Hearts. I played these games with my family and friends and was captivated by the creativity of these fantasy characters and their worlds. From battling colossi to slaying nightmares, playing these games that presented otherwise insurmountable obstacles gave me a sense of empowerment while enabling me to build friendships with others who shared the same passion for games. In 2015 my friends and I had the idea to create a streetwear clothing line that embodied the same heroic and empowering designs of our favorite games. We started with the Infinite Hoodie, inspired by Kingdom Hearts. The hoodies were a hit and demand for new products increased. Since then Infinite Future Gear has expanded to T-shirts, denim, and accessories all inspired by my favorite digital passions.
Please tell us about your art.
I design and produce streetwear apparel under my own independent clothing line Infinite Future Gear. IFG is inspired by my favorite video games, sci-fi, and electronic music. These artistic mediums have always had an empowering and positive impact on my life. I strive to embody the same heroic and empowering messages from those mediums in my creations with streamline design and bold details. My designs may include long-line silhouettes or stitched panels that resemble armor of a fictional character. I incorporate bold details like heavy gauge zippers or custom pockets. Infinite Future Gear also features the Velcro platform on many of the garments, so users have the ability to infinitely customize their gear with Velcro patches. Infinite Future Gear was created as a symbol to represent our Infinite Future as well as to inspire others to reach for their desired future.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
To support IFG financially, I worked multiple part-time jobs and was selling gear as much as I could to anyone and everyone. Crowdfunding was also an integral part in getting the brand to the next level. Have another source of income until you’re ready to go all in with your art.
