Meet Deidre Norman of SF Yoga Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidre Norman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
SF Yoga Mag came into my hands about 2 years ago. At that time there was no website and just a desire to create a media platform to help Yogi’s and the Yoga Community. I had an amazing friend, Courtney, who decided one day that she wanted to begin writing, and so she created the SF Yoga Mag website! It has been non-stop ever since that day. I am forever grateful. We have continued to grow and expand every day since then.

It was initially created to be a media platform for the Bay Area Yogis to share events and stories, but it has become so much more. We are now a conscious media company dedicated to promoting the Bay Area (and beyond) yoga and wellness community through our digital and social platforms. And soon, we will be adding in a print edition. We support and encourage spiritual growth, healing, service and self-empowerment through the teachings of yoga and other mindful events. We aim to share resources with our community that help elevate our consciousness and enhance the quality of our lives through yoga, teachings from spiritual teachers, meditation, conscious festivals, teacher trainings, music and various healing modalities.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been somewhat smooth…. The biggest struggle for me has been time management. I started SF Yoga Mag with no funding and so I am still working my full time job along with teaching yoga. I would prefer to spend most of my time on SF Yoga, but just have not been able to yet. There is so much I want to do and so much growth that is possible. Just learning to trust that everything is perfect diving order and not to rush things, has been a beautiful experience.

My favorite part of this has been that I have had the most amazing people join the SF Yoga team. There are so many beautiful souls wanting to help create this uplifting media platform.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a conscious media company – with the main focus of Yoga! We are dedicated to promoting the greater Bay Area’s (and beyond) yoga and wellness community through our digital and social platforms.

We cover conscious events all over the world, interview spiritual leaders, yoga teachers and healers, promote local Bay Area events and soon we will be expanding and offering SF Yoga transformational retreats.

We are known for our event coverage, promotion of conscious events and our blog.

I am most proud of the fact that we keep expanding and keep growing. I am continually inspired by all of the people out there wanting to live a more conscious life!

What were you like growing up?
I was kind of a wild child, I was always getting into trouble, I was never able to sit still and I was extremely active. I was into gymnastics, ice skating, swimming and having fun. And, I always loved being in nature.

I was the oldest child, so I think I might have been a little bossy 🙂
