Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Van Norman.
Denise, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am an LA native who moved to San Diego in 2011 with my husband. We now have a son who is almost 1 year old. I have always had an interest and passion for travel growing up as I was able to travel around the United States with my sports team. Traveling for sports exposed me to so many different areas and cultures and it fueled my interest in expanding my views to the rest of the world as an adult. After traveling to London and Paris as well as several cities within the U.S. with my husband, I wanted a way to document our experiences. I finally decided to start a travel blog, blushingfootsteps.com. It serves as an outlet for interesting stories that my husband and I have accumulated throughout our travels but eventually I want to expand my blog so it can serve as a travel guide for visitors.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have never run a website before so the initial set up was a struggle! I have a friend who started her blog about a year before I did so I was fortunate that she was able to help me along the way. Other than that, I have had a fun time reviewing all the photos I have taken and putting a story together.
Please tell us about your work.
Blushingfootsteps.com is a travel blog that documents my travel experiences, both within the United States and Europe. Additionally, I include pertinent information such as bus and train information (when available) and I am starting to include sample itineraries.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment has been the launch of my blog and receiving so much support from family and friends. I was admittedly a little apprehensive about it initially but I have been shown nothing but support from those closest to me.
