Dganit and Noam, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When we started to date I was in college and Noam was already working in the diamond industry. As a second generation in the diamond industry, he started his way cutting and polishing diamonds at his family factory and continued as independent broker, working with companies around the world and specialize in the US diamond and wholesale and retail market.
We have been in the diamond and jewelry business for over 30 years and since moving to the US thirteen years ago, we work together running our diamond wholesale business and our diamond and jewelry boutique in Carlsbad CA.
Redmond Diamond Center is the retail part of our wholesale business and it was established six years ago when private customers were constantly asking us to help them create the settings for the diamonds they bought from us and for other jewelry services.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road for a small business owner is never smooth. You are mostly on your own to deal with challenges. The biggest challenges for us were and still are online competition and marketing. It is very hard to stand out in today’s busy and overwhelmed marketing world, where customer attention is constantly destructed and digital marketing costs are going up and ROI is a mystery.

When we decided to open retail, we knew it is not going to be an ordinary jewelry store. We believe that every jewelry is telling a story about family, relationship, milestones and more and that’s why diamond and jewelry buying experience should be personal and private. We wanted to create a unique shopping experience for our customers, where they feel comfortable and stress free while shopping. That’s why we chose to have our showroom out of the mall or shopping center. We are located in a beautiful professional building, The Atrium @ Bressi Ranch, in Carlsbad CA. We are small, family owned local business and love being a part of this amazing community.
We specialize in diamonds, engagement rings and custom design. We enjoy reimagining heirloom or unworn jewelry for our customers and hear the stories behind the jewelry. Our long time experience and relationship with vendors allow us to provide our customers with many unique design options, knowledge and competitive pricing. We pride ourselves on providing top notch personal customer service, high quality products and best value.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
San Diego North County is a great place to live and work. We live in San Marcos and work in Carlsbad and feel like there is no one answer to whether it is a good place or not to open a business, it depends on the industry. On one hand, besides the wonderful weather and great heterogeneous community, there are great chambers of commerce that help you create business networking and support you in so many ways, On the other hand, the costs of living, taxes and health insurance for small businesses can be challenging, so its mostly state issues. San Marcos and Carlsbad are both great cities to live and work.
