Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerry Glass.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kerry. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was 18 years old I started working at my local college bar (yes, underage.. shhh!), as a bar back and kept moving up the ranks in the nightclub/bar industry. I was always fascinated and intrigued by the DJ’s that were coming in and I slowly started to make the transition into DJing. I immediately fell in love with DJing and decided that this is what I wanted to do as much as possible.
After a few years of playing back home, I set my sites out west to further my career as the west coast market seemed to be thriving in the DJ culture with plenty of spots to play and tons of notable talent.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was tough initially getting started and having people give you a shot to play at their venue. After years of persistence, I started to build a solid reputation and name that led to eventually having a full calendar every month. Then, moving to San Diego proved to be another challenge as I had to start all over again.
The move to San Diego was the most challenging as there are plenty of veterans in the DJ community here that have established names and relationships. I’m very happy with my progress over the past 2 years – it’s been a great move!
Please tell us about DJ Kerry Glass.
I am an open format DJ capable of playing to any crowd. I keep pushing to be the best I can be at my craft and have a vast catalog of my own custom edits/bootlegs that no other DJ has, this helps set me apart from others.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Probably times with my parents and grandparents. I also beat Vanilla Ice in a rap battle once, nobody can take that away from me.
