Today we’d like to introduce you to Dom Royal.
Dom, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in San Diego. I’ve been in different areas from Logan to paradise hills, all the way to spring valley. I got into music after I played football, basically my whole life. I’ve always been into music as well as the fashion. It’s been something I’ve always wanted to pursue. Since 2018 I’ve been putting out content as far as the music humbly speaking, I felt it’s made its presence in the city. When it comes to fashion, I’ve done modeling for certain brands and photographers just wanting to work. My favorite brand that I’ve worked with is VibesWithRodney. The concept of his clothing brand is definitely my type of style. I’ve always felt that I was an old soul and his shirts and sweaters bring back the 80s and 90s an era I wish I lived in as an adult or teenager. VibesWithRodney has been apart of me for the last couple of years. Where we’ve met different celebrities.
All in all, I’m proud to be apart of representing his brand and to be able to work both music and fashion is always smooth
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always struggles in everything. The music business is tough when you don’t have someone guiding you along the way. Money got tough. I was almost doing anything for money at the time. I eventually found a cool hustle to help me fund everything. Musically I haven’t had anyone to help direct me in the right direction. I’ve done it mostly all on my own. Shoutout to ‘Nicknoxx on the beat’ from San Diego and Young Ree from the IE, who are now key producers for my music. I’ve now taken steps to make my own studio, so now I’m beginning my path as a producer.
On the fashion side, there have been obstacles. We’re not worried about what other people do. We only control what we can control. Things were thrown at us. We have a concept that we live by, so if we see something or someone who try and take that from us, then it’s a problem. We’ve been blessed thus far just trying to have seen our vision in every aspect
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m a musician with Reli Mob records (Independent), I’m constantly trying to improve my craft. I write music and I’m starting to produce music now. Last summer, I dropped my debut album’Greedymode’. I was very blessed on how it all panned out. Blessed for all the listeners it was definitely a good experience and want to keep it going
My desire to learn different things is what sets me apart. I don’t like to depend on people much and that was my downfall since I’ve been doing music. I’ve learned so much that hopefully soon I can help others so they won’t go through what I did.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I like to write out goals. I like to see them and complete them. To me, that is success. Success to me is Also putting people I love in position to excel in whatever they’re doing.
