
Today we’d like to introduce you to Doreen Williams.
Doreen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been an active person. I grew up taking martial arts and dance. In high school, I did dance and tennis as well. Then after high school, I started working out more at the gym. That became my normal way to stay active.
Then about seven years ago, I started to consistently go to group fitness classes. I loved the energy and vibes I got. I was very consistent and one day the instructor asked me if I ever thought about teaching because they were in need of instructors. I decided to go for it and get certified in my first format. I fell in love with teaching! It was so fulfilling. Helping others feel energetic and healthy. Then my love for helping others in health and fitness blossomed into more when I took an opportunity to become a Beachbody coach. It was able to expand my reach to not just locally but online as well. It also held me accountable for my own goals knowing that my clients were looking up to me as well. I did not want to let them down and I constantly wanted to keep inspiring them. So now, my reach is mostly online due to the pandemic but I have started teaching one a class week at my neighborhood park in Serra Mesa which has brought me so much joy.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I think the pandemic has really put a halt to my group fitness classes because of the gyms being closed and people taking precautions to stay at home. It has helped more for my online business since more people want workout from home. So I think with any journey, there are ups and downs.
Please tell us about Lean & Clean with Doreen.
My business is all about health and fitness. I help people reach their goals in weight loss, muscle building and having a happy relationship with food. I provide home workouts that can be customized to my client’s goals. There is a variety of styles that include Cardio, Strength training, yoga, pilates, etc. I also provide nutrition courses to follow to help my clients get the best results. My class that I currently teach locally is Les Mills Bodyflow. It is a tai chi, yoga and pilates fusion class. The music makes it so fun. I am most proud of all the people that I have already helped. I have lasting connections with them and they constantly inspire me. What sets me apart from others is being disciplined and showing you how I can make this work from home with two young boys.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over one thing that I would have done differently is to be able to start this sooner.
