Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lisel Lewis
Hi Dr. Lisel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up in San Diego, Solana Beach was a dream town. It was so beautiful and peaceful that I couldn’t even imagine what living here would feel like. When I decided to open my chiropractic office, an opportunity for an office in Solana Beach presented itself. My office is 2 blocks from the ocean, and I can see the waves from my window… my chiropractic practice is located in my dream town!
After 10 years in Los Angeles, I am so happy to be back in San Diego and serving chiropractic care to my community. North County Coastal San Diego is where I will live for the rest of my life, and I’m so grateful for the warmth and welcoming this community brings.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In LA, my chiropractic practice was in Venice Beach. Business was booming, my patients became friends and I loved being at work. I was the Venice Beach chiropractor and everyone knew who to call if they needed my help. I was scared to move away from my established business and worried about rebuilding.
When I first came back to San Diego, I didn’t even know where to set up an office. Missions Valley, La Jolla, PB? Where to start? Solana Beach literally presented itself to me. I booked a lymphatic massage with someone in my now office, and I saw there was a beautiful, expensive chiropractic table. She mentioned there wasn’t a chiropractor and no one used that table… bingo! I got in contact with the owner of the building, and he offered me a private space to rent to build my chiropractic practice in San Diego. The space is small, but there is room for growth and I couldn’t have asked for a better situation.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lisel Lewis Chiropractic?
Chiropractic can help everyone. Your body is self healing. Given the proper alignment, your nervous system knows how to work properly and operate. Chiropractic removes any nerve interference and allows for the body to function and heal properly. Also, being adjusted by a chiropractor feels amazing! Pain and lack of mobility are what initially bring people into my office, but when patients come to me, I explain how their body can work optimally with chiropractic care. Yes, their pain can go away very quickly under chiropractic care, but to maintain wellness is a lifelong mission. I can help people stay young and healthy at any stage of life.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am Filipino. Both of my parents immigrated to the US before I was born. My mom was a nurse at the VA hospital for many years. My hope is that more Filipinos seek out chiropractic care. Medication and surgery is not for everyone, and natural health is the difference between sickness and wellness. If more Filipinos are under chiropractic care, our culture can live stronger and healthier lives without the need for drugs or surgery.
