Dr. Nadia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My path to healing work didn’t begin in a classroom, it began in the ocean.
I’m an avid surfer, and the waves have taken me across the world: to rural villages, quiet beach towns, and sacred places where language was less important than presence. Along the way, I lived in many countries and shared life with people from all walks of the earth. What I didn’t know then was that each of those experiences was shaping the kind of practitioner I would become.
When I opened Solare Acupuncture Clinic in San Diego, it was with one clear intention: to remind people that good people exist. In a world that rushes healing, I chose to slow it down. I’m one of the only acupuncturists who stays in the room with my patients for the entire session – holding space, tracking their body’s subtle shifts, and witnessing their return to balance. This decision was born out of 2020, when I saw how desperately people needed safe, nurturing places to land. At Solare, healing is held in divine feminine energy — calm, deep, intuitive, and inclusive to all beings.
But the story doesn’t stop there!
Out of the clinic grew something even more expansive: Botanica by Solare, my Chinese herbal tincture line. Originally, I formulated these remedies exclusively for my patients to support sleep, calm the mind, relieve stress, boost immunity, and harmonize the gut. But as word spread and demand grew, I realized I had something that needed to be shared more widely. And so, Botanica became its own entity! A line of small-batch, hand-poured tinctures made from traditional Chinese herbs, crafted with modern lives in mind.
Every single bottle is made by hand, start to finish, at my clinic. The formulas take three months to complete. Each herb is third-party tested, pesticide-free, sustainably harvested, and grown in the traditional regions where potency is strongest. There are no fillers, no fluff just time-honored plants doing what they were meant to do. Healing people.
Today, Botanica has reached thousands, and the stories I receive from customers about finally getting a good night’s sleep, grounding during panic attacks, avoiding a cold that was surely coming on – remind me why I do this. Both the clinic and the tinctures is my offering to the world. A culmination of all the places I’ve lived, the people I’ve met, and the healing I’ve had to do within myself. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I started my first clinic in 2020 during a global crisis which felt less like starting at ground level and more like planting a seed underground. But with time, care, and commitment, that seed broke through. That experience taught me resilience in a whole new way.
Running a small business is never without its challenges! It’s a constant dance of learning, adapting, and growing. But what keeps me grounded is knowing that every day I get to help someone feel a little better. In a world full of uncertainty, that’s something I can hold onto.
