Meet Dr. Tonya Jackman Hampton of Sequel Consulting Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tonya Jackman Hampton.

Hi Dr. Tonya , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I launched my business in 2013 in Minneapolis, MN. At the time, many colleagues outside of work asked me to serve as their executive coach or speak at events, which inspired me to open my business. Around that same time, I became a certified Co-Active Professional Coach and went on to earn my Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

My desire has always been to support individuals on their professional journeys through speaking and coaching. Over the years, I expanded into consulting, offering organizational and people development solutions to businesses.

Today, I continue to provide these services while also leveraging my healthcare executive experience. I extend coaching to individuals living with chronic illnesses—whether they are patients, caregivers, or loved ones—and I partner with healthcare systems to enhance patient experience and outcomes. My focus is on innovative cognitive and behavioral solutions that help people and organizations move forward with strength and clarity, Often times, I do my work through forums or community events. I also also provide professional coaching or business advising, organization and human resources consulting services to improve performance outcomes within any industry or non-profit desiring these services.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To some extend it has been a smooth road. I am fortunate to have a strong network and enjoy building relationships with others. However, learning the technical side of the business while invigorating it has been changing at a fast past. The effects are that other businesses are building and scaling faster than smaller organizations can. AI is also effecting the business causing smaller organizations to learn these systems quicker. The struggles are it is can be difficult to build more clients too. Additionally, obtaining capital funding is tough and as a result the ability to have a lot of resources to support the organization can be challenging too.
