Today we’d like to introduce you to Ed Asevedo.
Ed, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My Business all started watching a late-night commercial back in 1996 about a dehydrator showing all the stuff it can do, I ended up ordering the dehydrator because I love beef jerky. When I received the dehydrator, I already had 6 containers with different recipes and marinates ready to go everything was written down that was in each container so I can see which one came out the best tasting,5 of the recipes was ok but, man 1 of them was amazing so I continued fine tuning that recipe. I made a big batch of it for my son’s baby shower, I passed it out at the party everyone was loving it asking me where did you buy this stuff, I replied I made it everyone was amazed they were all telling me you should sell it (light bulb popped up in my head). I was a manager at Walmart at the time I took $5.00 zip lock bags to work I sold 25 bags the first day and had 75 orders that same day. I started researching how to make this a Business. My wife who I owe all success of our business to TINA ASEVEDO was my inspiration to push it we had so many people order my jerky it was an opportunity for us to start a business. we started doing pop us and local farmers markets, now we have our store front in Downtown Ontario ca. we were featured on ESPN we have a booth located at KNOTTS BERRY FARM and we do the San Bernadino and LA county Fairs not bad for a kid from THE RUFF SOUTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES.THANK YOU TO ALL CUSTOMERS AND FAMILIY THAT MADE MY DREAM COME TRUE.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
it’s never a smooth road when starting a busies from Strach with no capital and not knowing where your next dollar is coming from. being a new beef jerky brand going against thousands of other brands had to be different from other jerkies, weather was a key part for the events getting canceled and COVID hit had to be different at those times would deliver to customers front doors which keep us above water.
