Hi Elise, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started working with dogs when I was just 10 years old. Showing dogs in conformation competitions was my first step into the professional dog world. After that, I did everything I could to learn more about dogs; including studying different breeds on my own time, briefly becoming a mobile dog groomer, and finally attending dog training school to become a professional dog trainer!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course it hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a new business is a big leap financially, and there are many, many dog training businesses in San Diego for potential clients to choose from. But 4 years later, I’m still here and doing well!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started my business because I love people and dogs. I place a lot importance on being ethical and honest to both owners and their dogs and integrity is very important to me in my business!
I specialize in dog reactivity and human aggression cases, although I love training dogs of all types and issues; including puppies and dogs that need help with fear, manners, or just general obedience.
What sets me apart is the way I teach my techniques. Many dog trainers will train your dog for you, which is great! However, most of the time the dog will only listen to the trainer, and as soon as the dog comes home to you, they’re back to their old antics. For my training program, I act as your Coach. I may demonstrate a few examples but I spend most of the time watching you and helping you learn how to train your dog. This has way more successful long term effects on your dog’s behavior as well as the your own confidence in handling your dog!
