Meet Elizabeth Carrillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Carrillo.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Photography has always been something that has fascinated my creative outlet. It wasn’t until I was 18 I decided to purchase my first camera which was a Canon T3i. It began with capturing my brother’s high school football games; from there I never picked up a camera again. However in 2016, I found my new home FreedomHouseOC, that would drastically change my life forever. I began to serve in our photography ministry; I instantly fell in love with what would change my complete outlook on capturing photos. From there, my passion grew, and the Lord has blessed me to where I am at today. Everything I know has been by the Grace of God, blessing me with this talent, giving me creativity, and constantly building my confidence. As I grew in this talent, and my personal walk with God, I was led to this verse, Job 42:5, “My ears have heard from you, but now my eyes have seen you.” That verse captivated my heart and is how IVESEENPHOTO, my business started. I have heard His voice, but now I get to Him through a lens.

Please tell us about your art.
Without God, I would not be doing what I love and being able to share His goodness through my photographs. It’s all a God Story that I get to share with the world. Every time I put my eye to that lens, I get to see a God moment. A moment of healing, breakthrough, salvation, love, joy, unity, birth and restoration. My prayer is that in every photograph I share, that it speaks and encourages you to know the Love of God. As I’m capturing moments, I catch glimpses of His Word, the truth. He brings scripture to life as I see what He does. Whether it be in church, a maternity shoot, a wedding, or a small session, I have been blessed to see as The King sees.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
God, but, there have been moments of feeling alone and whispers of self-doubt, I too have struggled in places of darkness of depression, anxiety, and lack of self-worth. I could be surrounded by loving people, yet feelings of isolation flooded my mind. In that, I’ve learned to know who I truly am, through the Word of God. Having to push through each day, even if that meant dragging myself out of bed and faking a smile, I held onto the promises of God. I learned to silence comparison, suicide, & insecurities that tried to persuade me to give up. I surrounded myself with people greater than me, to encourage, challenge, and pray for me. Knowing they have gone through moments of darkness as well, they helped me lean on God and know that I am Not alone.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
