Hi Emily, Nikki, and Jordan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Coffee Coffee has been a staple in the Leucadia community for 10+ years so when we had the opportunity to buy the business late last year, we were so incredibly excited and honored to carry on its legacy. My husband and I (Nikki and Emily) live in Leucadia and run Surfhouse Boutique Hotel across the street from Coffee Coffee so the synergy between the two businesses just made sense. We teamed up with our Co-Owner and General Manager, Jordan Ward, to drive the craft coffee and food side of the business and we worked together to re-brand and re-vamp the community staple, staying true to Leucadia’s funky surf roots.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m not sure any business has ever had a smooth road! Renovating and re-branding was on an extremely tight schedule as we were trying to re-open within a month. We took over November 1st and soft opened on Thanksgiving day with the three of us all working in the shop. On top of that, Nikki and I left a little over a week later to get married in Costa Rica so Jordan was left to run the shop alone until we got back (she crushed it)! We’ve spent the last (almost year) working out the kinks and learning a ton and experiencing all the highs and lows of owning a cafe, but we are so stoked with where we are at.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Coffee Coffee?
Coffee Coffee is a craft coffee shop and cafe in the heart of Leucadia. It’s located on the 101, just down the street from then iconic Beacon’s Beach and in the heart of the Leucadia community. Coffee Coffee’s branding and vibe is true to Leucadia’s funky surf roots and our goal is to be a gathering place for the community of Leucadia and its visitors. We are known for our house made brown sugar syrups, with rotating seasonal specials as well as our grab and go mini surf burritos and house made salsas. We are also known for our monthly Latte Art classes that are held in the shop!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
We were not owners at that time
