Meet Annie Tame of Equestrian Almanac

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Tame.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started 13 years ago when my Stepdad, who used to own the Chicago Sun Times asked me to come work for him to learn about the Publishing business from the ground up. At that time, He also owned several local newspapers in San Diego.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It´s had its ups and downs like everything in life. The main challenge at times has been the language barrier. I was born and raised in Mexico City. Other than that, I think the rest has been a part of a learning curb that has helped me know everything that I know today.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Equestrian Almanac – what should we know?
My business, with Business Partner, Roblee Valentine is an Equestrian Magazine in Southern California. As an Equestrian and horse owner, I know the inside and outs of the Industry and therefore know what the readers want to read about. We target a very niche market, but highly affluent. Thankfully, We are doing great because through our distribution points we are the only publication that has access to a lot of these people. This helps our Advertisers get the most out of their advertising with us.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My main mentor, supporter, cheerleader and Advocate and the one I give credit to for my success and knowledge in Publishing is my Stepdad, Robert Page. He has really taught me everything about the business from the ground up since I first started 13 years ago. I also give credit to my Mom, who sent me to a wonderful college- USD and gave the opportunity for an excellent education.
