Meet Erika Morse of Erika Morse Books

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Morse.

Erika, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
About five years ago my boys were 5 and 3. I was feeling frustrated because when I picked up the house it seemed that they would mess it up right away. One night I was in bed thinking about how they were tornadoes. Then, I just started thinking of lines for a book. I got up and started writing! The next book’s inspiration came from my youngest because he is such a picky eater.

The next book is about my oldest, “There’s a Night Owl In Our House.” He absolutely loves staying up late. Both books are available on Amazon for $10.00. Along with writing children’s books, I have been writing fiction novels as well. I recently finished my first novel, “The Road to Fall.” I am currently looking for a publisher. If no one wants it, I will self-publish on Amazon again.

I teach English full time, so I write in the afternoons and evenings. My dream is to one day write full time and have all of my books published.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Mostly, it has been a smooth road. I was lucky enough to find Jodi Hill to illustrate the books. It took some time to fill everything out on Create Space, but it wasn’t too difficult. The hardest part is selling the books. Marketing has been the biggest struggle. I created a Facebook page, Novels and Children’s Books by Erika Morse. I am currently working on a website and hope to read the books to children at my kids’ school.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Erika Morse Books – what should we know?
My business is writing. I write children’s books and novels. I am most proud of the lessons that each children’s book teaches.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First, my husband, Ryan Morse, deserves some credit. He is very creative and helped to write the children’s books. Second, my illustrator, Jodi Hill, deserves credit. She is an amazing artist and really brought my book to life. Third, my friends and family deserve credit because they have all been very supportive of my journey.
