Meet Erin Delgado of Erin Christine Photography in South County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Delgado.

Erin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I developed my love for photography as a sophomore in college while studying abroad in Italy. I didn’t even have a “fancy” camera but I enjoyed trying to be as creative as I knew how. Although I loved photographing all the beautiful sceneries and architecture that Italy has to offer I really enjoyed photographing my friends in those sceneries. So initially I was really drawn towards portrait photography. I never really intended to turn my hobby into a business but as I learned more about the art of photography and realized the joy I had photographing people, I knew this is what I would want to do. One of the major factors in this decision was having my own business, it would benefit me later on in life when I wanted to start a family. I always dreamed of being a wife and mom so having a job that would allow me to make my own schedule and work from home would be perfect! 6 years latter and that’s exactly what I’m doing! When I was pregnant with my son, it helped me to really connect with my clients, most whom were expecting themselves. I loved photographing babies and families before but now having that extra connection makes my relationships with clients even more meaningful.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My photography journey has always been enjoyable. Taking pictures and creating art is always fun but being a professional photographer isn’t just taking pictures. It is so much more because it’s a business. I’d say one of the biggest hurdles I had to jump over and still find myself struggling with is confidence. There will always be people who will tell you, “This isn’t a real job”, or ” You can’t charge people for that”. It will really start to get you down and question yourself. If it wasn’t for the other wonderful creatives that I surrounded myself with, I honestly don’t think I’d be where I am today.

Please tell us about Erin Christine Photography.
As a portrait photographer, I capture motherhood and family. This includes a couple expecting their first child, of an established family with multiple children whether by natural means, or through adoption. Not only am I capturing these memories for my clients, but I am turning these memories into pieces of art for my clients to display in their home. What sets me apart from modern day photographers is I am a full service photography company. Instead of having my clients handle all the work or printing their pictures, I do all the work for them! They just have to choose which images are their favorites and I take it from there whether it’s a gallery on the wall, or designing a beautiful heirloom album. Because we have thousands of photos in our phones, we really don’t value photos as much as we use to and rarely see them displayed in out homes. I want to take that lost art and bring it back to my clients.
