Today we’d like to introduce you to Esteban Martinez.
Hi Esteban, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Started with an early interest in music as a child, the beat of the music. I would bang on anything I’d find around the house until my mom bought me my first drum set; I’d play so hard I made holes in them. Later on, still as a preteen a family weddings, quinceaneras, and reunions. We would have DJs playing music along with bands. The DJ drew me in, and I was completely drawn into what they were doing and how they were doing it. I was so intrigued on they can control the music and vibe on the fly and at their whim. Then to high school, going to house parties and meeting other friends who DJ, and that was that,
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No successful road is ever a smooth one, there’s always ups and downs and setbacks. It’s all how determined and disciplined you are. Persistence is key, and focusing on your goal is always a major role in success. Life can get in the way of your goals and dreams but don’t ever give up on them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a DJ, I’ve spun all over San Diego, especially Downtown, bars, and clubs. I’ve also done weddings and private parties. I play all popular music, Top 40, Latin, Hip-hop, House, and EDM (Electronic Dance Music). Currently, the venues I play at are leaned more towards Latin music which I do specialize in. What makes me most proud is when I get direct feedback from the crowd during and after my shows. Even if it’s just one person congratulating me on my set, it makes a difference and shows I did a good job which I take pride in. What I feel sets me apart is having the ear to the music and being able to control the direct the vibe of the crowd. I feel I can keep the crowd on their toes and dancing the night away.
Any big plans?
I strive in becoming better each day and expanding my skills; I’m working on releasing my own remixes and soon my own original tracks, which I hope will push me over the top and break out into more opportunities.
