Today we’d like to introduce you to Ezekiel Kitchen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ezekiel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since I was young, I’ve always been fascinated with cameras. I remember getting my first point & shoot digital camera and I’d bring it with me everywhere. I became obsessed and instantly, I felt right at home behind the lens. Both photography and videography became a part of my everyday life. All my spare time went to shooting videos, taking photos, and learning as much as possible about my cameras. Once college came around, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I enrolled at Kutztown University in the Cinema, Television, & Media Production program. While there, I was able to learn the in’s & out’s of video production, giving me a solid foundation of knowledge to stand on. I also took some photography classes too so that I could learn even more about cameras and photography in general. I met a lot great people through my classes and got to work on some memorable projects during my time at Kutztown.
Upon graduating in 2018, my girlfriend & I packed up and headed to San Diego. My girlfriend moved out here to continue her education and I thought it would be a great opportunity to take my videography/photography to the next level. Within the first couple of months of being here, I was offered a position as the In-House Videographer / Photographer at OMG Hospitality Group. From there, I began getting new clients and gigs, turning my hobby into a profession. This year I was able to start Visuals by Ezekiel Kitchen, my videography & photography business. Can’t wait to start working with this awesome community!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Moving from the East Coast with nothing lined up was terrifying at first. There were a lot of times of self-doubt and uncertainness. However, those times of uncomfortableness have caused me to grow not only as a business but as a person. They have caused me to think outside the box and try to take on challenges from a new perspective. I still have struggled today but that’s just part of life. There will always be new challenges but it’s our responsibility to find a way over, under, or around them. Never stop growing or learning!
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
Visuals by Ezekiel Kitchen is a one-stop-shop for all photography and video needs. If you have an idea or a vision, I’m more than happy to help you bring it to life. Most of my clients are for portrait sessions, business promos, and music videos but I love new challenges. I’m proud of the versatility of my business. My door is always open to chat about new projects and ideas. I love working with people from various backgrounds. I’ve got to meet some brilliants artists and minds along the way. What sets my business apart from others is my creativeness and versatility. Some people look at me strangely for not specializing in one certain thing but there’s so much more that I want to learn and explore. Maybe one day my business will find it’s niche but until then I’m going to enjoy the ride.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far is making the leap to move out here. I don’t think I would be where I am today if I would have just stayed around my hometown. I’m extremely grateful to get to create everyday.
