Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Davila
Hi Faith, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been drawn to capturing and sharing moments, even before I knew it could be a career. As a kid, I was that person constantly snapping photos with my digital camera, creating scrapbooks, and imagining myself as a magazine editor. When social media platforms like Pinterest and VSCO came along, I dove right in, curating aesthetically pleasing boards and posting nostalgic moments with carefully crafted captions.
Instagram was a game-changer for me. I fell in love with the digital world even more, following content creators and working to create the trendiest, most visually appealing posts. It was clear I had a knack for social media.
My passion really took shape in high school when I became the yearbook editor. I poured my heart into creating a unique yearbook that would matter to future generations. This experience solidified my desire to pursue a career in digital media.
Initially, I thought I wanted to be a magazine editor. But during college, as I took on social media internships, I realized that social media management is essentially creating an online magazine. It was the perfect blend of my interests.
Studying business marketing at Point Loma Nazarene University helped me refine my skills. I learned not just how to make a picture click-worthy, but how to create content that converts – making every consumer’s click count.
Now, at 23, I’m running my own social media business with just me, my laptop, and my iPhone. My clients are primarily in the food and beverage industry, which I absolutely love. There’s something special about capturing how good food isn’t hard to make look amazing. It’s a perfect fit for my passion for trying new restaurants and staying on top of trends.
What I love most about my job is the flexibility it offers. I can work from anywhere, anytime, which suits my busy, always-on-the-go lifestyle. Looking ahead, I’m excited about the possibility of expanding my business, hiring more people, and taking on even more clients.
It’s been quite a journey from that kid with the always-full digital camera to where I am now. But in many ways, I’m still that same person – always capturing moments, always creating, and always looking for the next exciting opportunity in this ever-evolving digital landscape. I’m eager to see where this journey takes me next and to leave my ‘click’ on the social media world.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Not exactly, but what entrepreneurial journey is? The challenges I’ve faced so far have been eye-opening and, in many ways, have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
One of the biggest hurdles I’ve encountered is figuring out when to “turn off” my phone. As a social media manager, scrolling through Instagram is literally part of my job. I need to stay on top of what others are doing, keep up with ever-changing algorithms, track marketing trends, and stay aware of the latest viral audio clips. It’s a constant flow of information, and drawing the line between work and relaxation time can be tricky. Choosing when to step away and truly unwind is an ongoing struggle, especially when your passion is also your profession.
Another challenge, which has also been a driving force, is the constant competition on social media. There’s always someone out there doing better than you, achieving more, or coming up with the next big thing. It can be overwhelming at times, but it also pushes me to continually improve and innovate.
Lastly, managing client expectations has been a learning curve. Many clients come in with the hope of going viral overnight, not realizing that success on social media often takes time and persistence. There’s no one-size-fits-all recipe for viral content, and helping clients understand this can be challenging. It’s about educating them on the realities of social media growth and setting realistic expectations while still pushing for the best possible results.
Despite these challenges, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. Each obstacle has taught me something valuable and has helped shape me into the social media professional I am today. It’s all part of the exciting, ever-changing world of digital marketing, and I’m here for every bit of it!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If you have ever envisioned yourself doing something and thought that would be cool but I don’t know how to do it so you just don’t try, my best advice has been to just go for it. I didn’t know everything and I honestly still don’t, but what I do know is I have the power to start and pursue my dreams and having the willpower and the strength to go for it will help you do whatever it is your heart desires. Since I graduated, I decided to just GO FOR IT and started working as a Freelance Social Media Manager. I most definitely had no exact plan but I did have a GOAL, and that was to just try it and see where it goes. Since then I have been having so many doors open that I never imagined would. Adjusting from school to working has been actually amazing and I believe that is because of the job that I currently have. Being able to be a remote worker has taught me a lot about self discipline and determination. If you are currently looking for a job I would highly recommend being your own boss and following your goal that you have always dreamed of. In the past year, I have dedicated a lot of my time to learning more about marketing especially in the social media world.
