Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Rowley.
Hi Faith, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I never anticipated becoming a wedding photographer. It was only a hobby of mine in high school. It wasn’t until I realized how many meaningful relationships, I was able to create and how many families I was welcomed into as their own. Being able to foster these relationships and help people remember their lives and family forever is priceless. Photos give us so many things in different life situations. Sometimes they give us closure, sometimes they give us hope, sometimes they tell a story, sometimes they make us feel. I began by interning for another photographer locally and really, I just never stopped after I left the internship.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road of course; it has taken a lot of work to get to where we are today in business. Some of the struggles were honing in on our expertise and style as well as really creating a community of people that surround that. Something I have struggled with is throwing to the side of what the industry standards are and feeling free to make the business really unique to us and our couples. I wanted Faith Rowley Photos to really stand out amongst a crowd of wedding photography businesses and I wanted our couples to be bold enough to choose us for that too. Switching between locations (two different markets) was the hardest struggle overall.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a wedding photographer primarily, who specializes in giving an incredible experience to couples wanting to have a mix of traditional and fashion-forward wedding photos all while standing out and being a statement amongst the crowd. I am most proud of the type of kind-hearted and bold clients we attract and the way they trust us so heavily. I believe what sets us apart from others is that we are different, we give a variety of a gallery (A little of what mom wants, a little of what you want, and a little that is incredibly unique that you didn’t know you needed), and we truly are on your team and here to help make your wedding planning experience immaculate and most of all easy.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the industry slimming down to have small gatherings rather than large weddings. I see a lot of simple, classic, subtle bold details, and lots of pastel light colors. I see videography being paid more than photography eventually and see that people will finally find the value in it. I see people focusing more on the experience. I picture “wedding weeks” to become a thing where families celebrate over a week of time with little events throughout the week. Elopements and destination weddings I predict to be on the rise.
