Meet Flobo Boyce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flobo Boyce.

Hi Flobo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
After a losing a corporate job in 2017, I promptly launched my live entertainment business in the November of that year. Starting off as a mobile and wedding DJ, “Knew Amsterdam Entertainment” has quickly expanded into live hosting, podcasting, standup comedy, and esports services. Though Southern California is in my travel area, with the rise of virtual engagements, I’m able to perform for a global audience.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
While I have been fortunate to witness the growth of my business and brand, I can say wholeheartedly that the experience was not without its struggles. Everything from maintaining a balance sheet, investing in advertising, and learning best practices in engaging with clients was essentially self-taught. And because I was thrust into self-employment by the nature of losing my “day job,” I had to learn these aspects quickly in hopes of generating revenue. There were many sleepless nights!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the founder of “Knew Amsterdam Entertainment” a live event company based in Southern California. Our segments include:

Event/Mobile DJ business. (e.g., Weddings/Private Parties)

Live Speaking (e.g., Stand-up comedy, keynote speaking)

Presenting (e.g., television hosting/webseries hosting)

Esports (e.g., announcer/commentator aka “shoutcasting”)

Podcasting (ownership of 5-7 podcasts under a singular brand)

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We’re going to see a lot more hybrid work. While some clients want face-to-face interaction, virtual gigs and clients aren’t going away. Any business is going to have to develop an online/distance/virtual solution for their clients and customers, regardless of segment.
