Today we’d like to introduce you to GDQ, Mac, and Walter.
The Activated Podcast was created by three friends who met after moving to San Diego in 2015 and 2016 from different locations across the country. We started late 2017 after we expressed the want to start a podcast that could possibly promote social change. Activated was named in remembrance of our great friend and brother Reg Activated who was a motivating up-and-coming artist and social activist. Our first episode was recorded on January 2018, and we now have 47 full-length episodes to date, along with other various short content and interviews. We are a mobile podcast that has the ability to record anywhere on the fly, and we love to conduct interviews at various events around San Diego. We want to strength our community and give hope to the youth. Activated believes that everybody can win, and we will do everything we can to assist others with those victories.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We are grateful for the position that we are currently in today. The journey has been met with obstacles, but we are a strong team. Activated is a family that will only succeed if we support each other unconditionally. Scheduling can be difficult at times whether it be internally or with guests, but we have become much more efficient as time has passed. Our biggest struggle has been pressuring ourselves from constantly trying to find new ways to improve the podcast and provide value for our fans and viewers. We are proud of our journey towards success, but we feel it is necessary to push ourselves to be excellent so that we can hopefully motivate others, provoke thought, and incite change.
Please tell us about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Our podcast is currently most known for conducting high-quality interviews with passionate guests. We pride ourselves on obtaining high-quality audio and video content. We always hope to facilitate discussions that are meant to be informational and inspire others. Activated is a form of social activism and peaceful demonstration against the injustices of the world. The Activated Podcast is the best new media outlet for long-form interviews in San Diego County for local musicians, artists, activists, gamers, businesses, and anyone else who is trying to improve their community.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would not change anything that we have done, and we truly believe that every mistake is a lesson learned.
The Activated Podcast would not be in the position we are in today without those lessons.
