Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgette Ayaz.
Hi Georgette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Certainly! Here’s a brief walk through my journey:
I graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Theatre and Dance, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for creativity and performance. My passion for fashion led me to intern with renowned designers, where I gained invaluable experience in the industry. This inspired me to develop my own brand, Gorgezze, focused on sustainable resourcing and innovative designs.
My interest in psychology motivated me to pursue a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. Here, I learned how to combine my creative background with psychological principles to help others.
Throughout my journey, I’ve always been a trendsetter, which naturally extended to my love for music. I became a DJ, sharing my live sets on SoundCloud to connect with people through another creative medium.
This blend of arts, fashion, psychology, and music has shaped my unique path, allowing me to merge my diverse passions into a fulfilling career.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Growing up as an only child with limited support, I often had to rely on my own resilience and determination. This lack of external support presented significant challenges, but it also instilled in me a strong sense of independence and self-motivation.
In the competitive world of fashion, breaking into the industry was tough. Interning with renowned designers demanded long hours and relentless hard work, often pushing me to my limits. Starting my own brand, Gorgezze, came with its own set of obstacles, from sourcing sustainable materials to establishing a market presence.
Balancing my creative pursuits with rigorous academic work at Pepperdine University was another challenge. The transition from the arts to clinical psychology required a shift in mindset and skills. Despite these hurdles, my vision for what I wanted in life kept me moving forward.
In addition, navigating the music industry as a DJ posed its own difficulties. Building a following on platforms like SoundCloud required consistent effort and innovation.
Through all these adversities, I have always pursued my dreams, defying boundaries and limits. Each struggle has taught me valuable lessons and has paved the way for my success.
