Thanks for sharing your story with us Ghobad. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As an immigrant who came to the US about 35 years ago, I always felt the need to be at the cutting edge of technology. In fact, that is the very reason why I came to the US–to pursue higher education and reach the point where I felt I am helping to solve the unsolved technical problems. After spending 8 years in the Mid-West, culminating in receiving my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, I set out for my first job on the East Coast, followed by relocations to Chicago and then to San Diego in pursuit of better job opportunities and learning new skills and technologies. Along the way, I ended up working at some of the largest corporations such as AT&T, Nokia, and Olympus, as well as several tech-oriented start-ups.
During the economic downturn of 2007/2008, I decided to start my own consulting firm, GHB Intellect. We focused on helping large and small tech companies with their internal research and development. Soon, I was invited to assist with the development and analysis of intellectual properties (patents) owned by a few of these clients. They apparently liked the quality of work and the level of service we provided and they asked for more of this type of assistance.
I enlisted the help of some of my trusted colleagues and one thing led to another and we currently have close to 400 high-caliber expert technologists and scientists working to deliver the highest quality of consulting in a variety of high-tech and scientific fields. Our claim to fame is that the expertise we bring to the table for each project is unmatched anywhere else. Together with the state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories we have access to, we now provide full-service turn-key solutions to all sorts of intellectual property and engineering projects.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, it has not always been a smooth road. The first big challenge we faced was to establish our company within the market. The next one was to find the right clients and commit our very best to them. Finding solutions to the problems that were constantly arising due to the unpredictable nature of IP issues was certainly one of the toughest struggles. However, these challenges and struggles helped us to grow and work more efficiently.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the GHB Intellect story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a full-service IP consulting firm, located in San Diego. We cover different services such as technical review, IP Development, IP Management, IP Monetization and litigation support.
