Today, we’d like to introduce you to Gisela Acevedo. Gisela was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Tianna Curatalo.
Gisela, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
When I was in elementary school, we had a debate about Santa being real or not. I argued that he was real. The opposing (elementary school aged) side argued that he did not because he was never really seen, so he must not be real. As a counter, I argued that the same could be said about germs and pollution, that it wasn’t something you could see, but that it didn’t mean that it was not real. I won that debate and have won many more since! The joy I got from critical thinking, arguing and defending a position made me realize that I was an advocate. Being an advocate for others comes natural to me. I am truly passionate about being the voice for others and getting people through, what is often, the most difficult time of their life. As a Family Law attorney, I have put my skills to work to get families through divorce, custody battles, and the stress that can come with starting a family via a surrogate.

Please tell us more about your brand, Acevedo Family Law
Acevedo Family Law was founded thanks to the support of my family and friends. I have been practicing law for 9 years, focusing on Family Law exclusively. I am a Certified Family Law Specialist which means that the California State Bar has deemed me an expert in family law. I am passionate about family law. However, opening my own business seemed scary and out of reach in the past. Things changed, however, when I became a mother and my needs as a parent, professional and woman, changed. With the support and encouragement of my family and close friends, opening my own business made all the sense in the world. When I realized that this was going to be the next step in my career, I felt reinvigorated and excited. I am most excited and proud of my role in Surrogacy law, given that most Family Law attorneys do not practice this area of law. In addition, there are very few attorneys that do surrogacy law in San Diego that speak Spanish, which sets me apart. I am proud of the leap I took in opening my own office and that my reputation of being an honest and fierce litigator, followed me to my new business. As a smaller boutique law firm, I am able to provide more customized and personalized representation.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Ripple & Tide Creative – Tianna Marie LLC and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Ripple & Tide Creative – Tianna Marie LLC.
When I decided that I wanted to open my own law office, I knew that I wanted to start as soon as possible. I was too excited not to start right away. I was referred to Tianna through a friend, who had his website and branding done by Tianna. When I saw Tianna’s work, I was so impressed on how modern and professional it all was. I contacted her immediately and I told her that I needed a website in one week. She was honest with me and told me that was an extremely short turn around, but by working together, we could get it done. At the one week mark, the website was not only done, it was beautiful! I could not believe how amazing it was, especially considering the short turnaround. In the process, she created a logo for me, helped me pick colors for my business, logo and website that best represented me, made me business cards, and kept in touch with me each step of the way. I am in awe of her. I received so many compliments on my website and branding. Just this week, the person working on my office lobby logo saw my business cards and said “Wow, these are so fancy.”
