Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Magnuson.
Hi Greg, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Money Vikings Premium offering and YouTube channel grew from our experiences as investors in the US trying to figure out how to build wealth and become financially independent. We observed many people struggle through the Great Recession, the housing bust, job challenges, and more recently, the pandemic. We realized that as working adult professionals no one really talked about investing, money, or how to manage it. Most of us have little education about investing, building wealth, managing debt, or buying a home. We found that most of the time it was almost taboo or not acceptable to openly discuss such a vital aspect of existing and thriving in our society.
We started the Money Vikings business in 2018 and just started researching wealth building / money management ideas and sharing them with our community. We became guinea pigs for new fintech products such as Robinhood, CashApp, and Credit Card Rewards programs, then wrote about them. We also started sharing research we were doing on various investment vehicles such as stocks, ETF’s, real estate, options, cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
We were actually fortunate to have our family members educate us about the importance of investing, compounding returns, the value of starting early, and sticking to a budget. Most people have no one to talk with about these topics. How else can our fellow citizens and friends learn how to build wealth? We thought, why not start a small business with a website, then grow from there to podcasting, YouTube, News Letters, Technical Indicators, Options Trading Strategies, Cheat Sheets, and a Discord Server? Now we can collaborate with our members “MVPs” and provide wealth building ideas for their unique individual situations.
The Premium Membership is almost like a gym membership for building wealth, with coaches and inspiration on a weekly basis. We send a weekly newsletter that covers all kinds of topics about wealth building, healthy living, trade ideas, options, crypto, real estate, stocks, and more! It has not been easy to build a business like this, but we truly enjoy the community; learning and meeting new people is the true reward.
We are not financial advisors and do not make recommendations for investments, we simply do research, show what we do, share what works for us and what does not work. We also created a discord community of like-minded folks sharing ideas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We do have both an advertisement-based revenue model and a subscription model for those that want to join the community and have one on one conversations with others who are in the trenches building wealth each day. Finding the balance between ad-supported and not impacting customer experience has always been key for us.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are content creators, educators, traders, and investors. We just happened to end up creating content that is meant to deliver information about building “True Wealth”, and living a healthy strong life.
What matters most to you? Why?
At our core, we truly believe we can all rise together. Anyone who joins Money Vikings or views our content will know that we want them to succeed. There are opportunities out there for everyone if we have the knowledge and tools to apply.
