Today we’d like to introduce you to Guy Page.
Guy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was in a behavioral health field for 15 years as a crisis intervention is working with the chronically mental mentally ill and homeless population. After attending a life-changing seminar with Acupuncturists Without Borders, I knew my life had just taken a different direction. I quit my job and cashed in my 401(k) to open up a clinic specializing in free acupuncture to all military, first responders as well as their family members. I put together a team of board-certified licensed acupuncturist and created the Inn Spot community acupuncture where we provided over 1900 free acupuncture treatments to San Diego‘s military, first responders as well as their family members. We also provide very affordable low-cost acupuncture to the community based on a sliding scale. pay what you can afford so that finances are not a barrier to healing!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
After opening up the clinic, I was diagnosed with polymyalgia and struggle to get to the clinic every day. Financing this project cost a lot more than I first thought, I just sold my condo to keep the clinic open!
The Inn Spot Community Acupuncture – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’ve partnered with Acupuncturists Without Borders and act as a crisis clinic in Southern California to provide trauma-focused acupuncture treatments in any crisis situations such as school shootings, local fires or any other catastrophes that may occur. We provide free acupuncture every Tuesday from 9 to 5 to San Diego to heroes. Which include all military, first responders and their family members. We are active in the community providing education at local farmers markets. We provided free acupuncture treatments to San Diego‘s first responders in 2019, San Diego 911 stair climb memorial as well as the girl’s empowerment event at the San Diego fire-rescue department. We are members of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau. I am a spokesperson for the veterans Chamber of Commerce advocating for homeless veterans. We will be in the San Diego veterans day parade on Veterans Day.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My biggest days of success are when a veteran comes in struggling with mental health symptoms and leaves feeling good again. Knowing that recovery is possible.
