Today we’d like to introduce you to Harmony Zents.
Harmony, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
JadeKai was created when tragedy struck my family in 2016. Jade = a healing stone that can’t be broken under pressure and Kai = ocean in Hawaiian. I chose the name JadeKai because it’s a reflection of my life. The ocean has always been a place where I can find peace, strength, and adventure.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve worked in the health and wellness industry for the last 13 years. Starting a trucker hat business from scratch was definitely a learning curve. I attended a trade show in Long Beach and purchased my first press. Being able to talk with vendors and inspect the quality of trucker hats in person was a huge bonus! Trial and error is how I figured out everything else. You never know what to expect when you’re purchasing items over the internet.
Please tell us about JadeKai Beach Boutique.
JadeKai is a place where you can purchase trucker hats for the entire family. All collections are inspired by sea, travel, and aloha. My small business is unique because I design and make all my trucker hats here in San Diego. This year I added the beach boutique to JadeKai. You can purchase my trucker hats online and at local markets. During the summer months, I incorporate jewelry, beach accessories, and apparel. As of now, I’m only selling those items at local markets.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I don’t really have a favorite childhood memory. Spending quality time outdoors with my family was something I enjoyed.
