Today we’d like to introduce you to Hatungimana Didier.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I grew up loving art. I first started by drawing pictures of anything I could think of by using a pencil or a pen. I was very good at it and my friends loved my work. That all ended when I got here in the United States due to not having as much time as I did back home. Two years ago, is when I discovered another way of making art without using a pencil or pen. I purchased my first dslr camera. Since then, photography has been my way of telling stories. I am no longer the kid who used to draw pictures using a pencil. Today I just have to come up with an idea and the camera does the job for me.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a photographer and I photograph pretty much anything that catches my attention. I don’t just photograph things just because I want to. I photograph them because I have a story to tell. I hope people will look at my work and see the story behind that. Every photograph I took have a story to it.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I would say that Artist life has become a little easier now because of technology. But don’t get me wrong, it also depends on what kind of an artist we are talking about. I believe some artist are still struggling financially and more. The cities should support artist who need it. There’s a lot of talents out there that deserves to be recognized but they just do not have the right support. Sometimes supporting someone builds up confidence and confidence gets people where they want to be.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
