Today we’d like to introduce you to Hillary Aguirre
Hi Hillary, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always grown up with a sense of adventure, wanting to exploring new things, especially in the SoCal area. Now I have a family of 4, and I wanted to continue that tradition with my two children. We love to visit the different beaches, mountain, children’s museums, and support local businesses. We have also had the blessing to go on a Disney Cruise and Disney’s Aulani in Oahu. I am a huge believer that children learn best through play and nature.
Since we were already very active in exploring new things in SoCal, I would frequently have family and friends ask me about ideas for things to do. As I started learning more about social media, I decided that this would be a great platform to share what we do and give practical tips for other families. I give a ton of credit to my sister @livinwithlittles, who had already been doing social media for a few years and inspired me to start. So I went all in, spending hours learning about how to make engaging content, writing better descriptions, and how to use all the social medica platforms.
Creating content is a huge creative outlet for me, and the best part is that my kids absolutely love doing it with me (they even like to give me tips for taking pictures). It is very rewarding to know that I might be helping or inspiring other families to go out and find their next adventure!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. I am a fire wife and also work as a Lactation Consultant and RN, so balancing the time to plan and make content with work and home life is a struggle. In addition, we started homeschooling last year, so there has been a lot of adjustments. Some weeks feel chaotic, but we are getting used to it now and somehow make it work!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been a RN and lactation consultant for about 15 years now, I love my job, but wanted to lean into my creativity more. I have a natural desire to help others, so finding the content creating life was a perfect way to blend everything that I love and still get to include my family. I try to be very intentional about supporting other content creators as well, it helps so much to have a group of like-minded people where we can ask each other questions and celebrate our success, instead of being competitive.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I say reach out to others that are doing the same thing you are and have the same goals. Sometimes even some of my family members don’t quite understand what I am doing, but to have a community of friends that are also content creators makes a world of difference. I have had to step out of my comfort zone a lot to talk to others at events and try to make new connections, but it has only helped me grow.
