Meet Hulu Amen Ra of The Hidden Spa Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hulu Amen Ra.

Hi Hulu Amen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2014, on my thirty-third year, I spoke a simple prayer that became the foundation of my life’s work.
I asked to become a healer — to learn what Christ knew, what the Buddha taught, and what the Ascended Masters practiced. I didn’t know then how much that prayer would change me.

That moment began a spiritual journey of remembering who I am in mind, body, and spirit.
I started meditating, fasting, writing, and listening to life itself. My first book, The Art of Life: Speak, Move, Think, Feel Art, came out of that awakening — a philosophy reminding us that we are all artists, constantly creating through our words, our movements, our thoughts, and our spirit. That realization opened a portal for me.

That same year, I returned to school in Hoboken, New Jersey, just across the bridge from my hometown, New York City. I enrolled at the Cortiva Institute to study the healing arts — learning eastern and western bodywork, anatomy, and how energy and intention move through the body. Meditation led me there, and sound healing was calling me forward. I thought I’d end up in San Francisco to continue my studies, but spirit had another plan.

My career as a massage therapist began soon after, and my writing kept evolving. Every client, every healing session, every silence between breaths became a teaching. I self-published my second book, The Seed and The Fruit – The 4 R’s of Self-Healing, and that text became both my medicine and my map. It helped me move through my own initiations and gave others a path to reconnect to themselves.

Love and destiny carried me west — to San Diego.
With my partner at the time, we created a wellness lifestyle that blended fitness, massage, meditation, and nutrition. We served people who wanted to grow, heal, and transform from the inside out. I started formulating herbal tinctures and superfood blends, designing natural remedies for chakra balance, gut health, and energy alignment. It was all part of the same prayer — to embody healing, not just practice it.

When the pandemic hit, everything paused.
I returned east to reflect, to rebuild, to listen again. And when I came back to San Diego, life placed before me a sacred opportunity — a small spa for sale in Ocean Beach, right by the same farmers market where I had shared my work years before. The vibration was already there waiting for me. I invested all I had — and with my mother’s blessing, The Hidden Spa became The Hidden Spa Wellness Center.

For over three years now, that little sanctuary has grown into a living temple of healing arts.
We’ve expanded from massage and esthetics into frequency medicine, sound healing, and holistic restoration. Each therapist, each practitioner, brings their own branch to the tree of life we’re growing together.

Looking back, I see how everything — every challenge, every love, every lesson — was guiding me home to purpose. This has never been just a career. It’s been a spiritual journey — the ongoing practice of fulfilling my purpose in mind, body, and spirit.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No — it hasn’t been a smooth road. But it’s been a sacred one.

From day one, life has tested my devotion to this path.
Even though I’ve worked for myself most of my life, becoming an owner came with a whole new level of responsibility. When I purchased The Hidden Spa, I inherited not only a business but a team, a history, and a vibration that needed tending. Overnight, I went from healer to leader — and that transition stretched me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

Taking over from the previous owner wasn’t easy. There were communication challenges, missing systems, and a mountain of details that needed order before I could even begin focusing on what truly mattered — the client experience and the soul of the space.

Then came the environment itself. Ocean Beach is beautiful, raw, and real — but it also carries layers of energy: homelessness, addiction, crime, and the collective heaviness that comes with it. As a frequency-based healer, I felt all of it. Every day, I had to cleanse not just the inside of the spa, but the energy around it. It was like tending both the temple and the land — moving energy, purifying space, keeping the vibration high no matter what surrounded us.

I’m the third owner of this establishment, and through it all, we’ve maintained a loyal base of clients and staff — some who’ve been with the spa since the very beginning. That loyalty is sacred to me. But consistency — that’s been the real work. Building a reliable team, creating stability, and transforming an old structure into a living, evolving wellness center has required patience, humility, and constant awareness.

There have been moments where I questioned if I could carry it all. But each challenge became a teacher — reminding me to stay rooted in my purpose, to lead with heart, and to see struggle as sacred refinement.
Now, I see every obstacle as energy asking to be transformed. That’s the real healing work — within myself, my business, and the community we serve.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Hidden Spa Wellness Center ?
Alternative & Holistic Health Service
Sacred bodywork, frequency facials, and soul-based restoration sessions in a healing sanctuary by the sea.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’d love for readers to remember that healing is not a destination — it’s a way of living.
We all carry within us the ability to realign, to harmonize, and to rise above what once limited us. Every breath, every thought, every act of kindness is a form of medicine. My life has taught me that true healing begins the moment we take responsibility for our own vibration — for the energy we bring into every space, conversation, and creation.

My path has been about bridging worlds — the ancient and the modern, the scientific and the spiritual, the seen and the unseen. And through it all, I’ve learned that the heart is the real healer. If my story inspires even one person to listen to their inner calling, to live with more intention, or to share their gift with the world — then the journey has been worth it.

To anyone reading this who’s searching for their purpose: start with presence.
Your purpose will meet you where you stand — one breath, one heartbeat, one intention at a time.
