Today we’d like to introduce you to Ikaia Pal.
Ikaia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
These days I spend a lot of my time working with brands and artists in creating content such as music videos, commercials, and show recaps for their social media accounts. I’ve also spent a lot of time writing little 5 min shorts in hopes of directing and filming them. How I started is a tricky story. I’d say I’ve always loved creating videos and that came with the saying “Born To Create” but honestly when I moved to San Diego in 2018, I was really into creating cinematic portrait videos which gave me the opportunity to meet and work with a lot of amazing models out here. At one point I found myself wanting to be a part of the nightlife scene which was good for networking. I ended up putting in a lot of late hours in order to meet as many entrepreneurs as possible to offer my creative skills. After going above and beyond in meeting entrepreneurs and filming at all the nightclubs downtown, working in the industry and filming club recaps was starting to limit me creatively, so I decided to make the switch to writing and shooting more short films, brand commercials, and music videos. Since then, I’ve worked hard every day to stand out from others and separate myself from everyone else who’s doing the same thing I am. I just create whatever comes to mind or I help others bring their vision to life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, it’s been a journey, I’d say learning the business side of things for the company has been the biggest challenge. Like when to use contracts and how much to charge for my services, etc. Lately, I’ve been trying to figure out how I want to structure the production company and how big I want it to grow because I really want to create feature films that inspire the human race.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Goat Life Media is a San Diego-based production company. Our mission is to tell compelling stories from real people through a variety of media formats. Goat Life Media offers music videos, commercial films, product photography, and more. A few things that set us apart from others are our timely turnaround and our passion that goes into making sure the client feels like the G.O.A.T.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was when my aunt took me to go see a live taping of Cory In the House. I’d like to say that’s when I fell in love with cameras and directing.
