Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Doheny and Jake Solomon.
Founded by two engineering students at San Diego State University with a passion for high quality coffee and the action sports community. Jake & Jack founded Bold Brew as a natural alternative to energy drinks, utilizing the high caffeine qualities of Cold Brew with the highly active and health conscience action sports community.
Jake & Jack started by brewing coffee in a kitchen in El Cajon, selling on campus at SDSU. They soon grew into over 160 retail locations from San Diego you Santa Barbara and continually focus on scaling their business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding manufacturers was hard but luckily, we have secured a great one. Juggling a full-time student engineering course load and running a beverage startup is also difficult, but our hard work and determination prevails.

Jake & Jack are deeply passionate about the action sports athletic community and creating a functional beverage that fulfils the needs of this community is paramount to their vision.
We source single origin, high quality Colombian origin coffee directly from a family owned farm in Colombia.
We love being able to not only support these farmers directly but also support the athletes that represent our brand at large.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Jake- Skateboarding at Woodard East every summer.
Jack- a month long trip to Nicaragua to work on a coffee plantation.
