Meet Jaime Nardiello of Honey Bloom Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Nardiello.

Jaime, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since a young age, I knew that the beauty industry was my calling. I’ve always known that when given a makeup brush, my artistic abilities soared. While I was a junior in high school, I received acceptance to the vocational program. I obtained my license in Cosmetology after my senior year. After coming to the realization that I was allergic to hair dye, I quickly had to change the path of my career. In September of 2016, I attended my first makeup school. Artist Makeup Academy located in Hoboken NJ, taught me the hustle of the makeup industry. I spent my mornings as a receptionist at a local salon, and my evenings at school. After I graduated from Artist Makeup Academy, I ventured to alternative education.

The School of Makeup Effects in South Amboy, NJ, was the second school that I attended. I did a beauty editorial and special effects. Some examples of different looks that I’ve done are film, Halloween, and high fashion. Some of the events that I’ve gotten to participate in during this time are New York Fashion Week and Nightmare at Gravity Hill. I’ve spent my weekends working on my resume, and building my portfolio with models and bridal clients. Shortly after, I attended New York Makeup Academy in the High Fashion Program, which gave me the pleasure of working with Naima Mora, JWOWW, Joe Biden, and Mary Alice Williams. After my resume blossomed, the owner of the School Of Makeup Effects offered me the job of become a teacher. As I worked full- time at the school, it gave me more time to focus on one of my goals of creating my own skincare brand known as Honey Bloom Cosmetics.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some struggles that have come across during my journey has been late nights and early mornings. For example, on Thanksgiving, I spend my mornings doing makeup for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and I spend my nights working at Sephora for Black Friday. When you become a freelancer your personal time becomes limited.

We’d love to hear more about your business.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, my life wasn’t like most, which made me become strong. My birth mom passed away during pregnancy complications while delivering triplets. Leading my dad to become a widowed man with four kids. Shortly, after he got remarried to my stepmom, who had two kids of her own. We joined together as one family and my parents had a child together, which gave each of us a half-sibling. Growing up with a family of nine and three dogs definitely was crazy. But, this allowed me to search for my own path. At the age of ten, my brother passed away from an overdose and shortly after that, my dad passed away from stage four lung cancer.

By the age of 14, I lost both of my parents and my oldest brother. I always express that love raised me but, makeup saved me. The beauty industry was my outlet on my bad days. It allowed me to get lost in my own creativity; the mind is a powerful tool when healing. The name Honey bloom Cosmetics sparked to me because blooming is a beautiful part of life. You have stages when you feel like your in the dirt and then you go through the growing process. You need to water yourself with passion and allow the sunshine in. At last, you finally bloom into the beautiful person you are meant to become. Strong, resilient, and one of a kind.
